Is A Mini Tummy Tuck Right For Me?

By September 12, 2017 No Comments

Many of our patients in the Seattle area turn to the tummy tuck to help achieve the flat, toned stomach that may otherwise be out of reach. At Seattle Plastic Surgery Center, Dr. Jonov offers two different tummy-tightening options for his clients: full
tummy tuck and the lesser-known mini tummy tuck. If you are curious about the distinction between the two, or which option is right for you, our team is prepared to help you explore these two types of tummy tucks.

Closer Look at The Mini Tummy Tuck

The mini tummy tuck (also known as mini abdominoplasty) helps improve the appearance of the abdomen by addressing the skin below the belly button. The mini tummy tuck accomplishes this by removing excess skin below the belly button and tightening
the remaining skin for a flatter and smoother appearance of the lower portion of your midsection. A mini tummy tuck is often an effective procedure for our Seattle clients looking to get rid of stubborn excess skin on the lower abdomen.

A full tummy tuck, on the other hand, addresses the entire abdominal area by removing extra skin and fat and smoothing the skin to for an overall tighter and better-toned midsection.
Performed by our very own Dr. Jonov, a full tummy tuck is an excellent procedure for helping eliminate loose skin after significant weight loss or pregnancy.

Pros And Cons Of A Mini Tummy Tuck

One of the many reasons why our Washington clients love mini tummy tucks is because this procedure is generally quicker, the belly button isn’t touched, and the only scarring is below the bathing suit line. If a client’s only concern is the extra skin
on the lower abdomen, a mini tummy tuck can be a great way to target that issue.

However, since a mini tummy tuck primarily addresses the skin below the belly button, it may not be the right procedure for everyone. Even if the majority of excess skin is below the belly button, some patients also struggle with excess skin above the
belly button which may need to also be tightened for a well-balanced appearance. If you are concerned about wrinkled skin across your entire midsection, a full tummy tuck may be a better option for you.
