A Non-Injectable Option for Weight Management

Weight loss is often way more difficult than it looks. It might even become discouraging when efforts do not match the results. Many adults stick to the weight loss plan, but they end up struggling with constant cravings and the body’s resistance to change. Medical weight loss is designed to address this.

Wegovy® pill is the first FDA-approved oral GLP-1 option for eligible patients who prefer a non-injectable approach. At Seattle Plastic Surgery, Wegovy® prescriptions are provided only after a careful medical assessment to ensure suitability.

What Is the Wegovy® Pill?

What Is the Wegovy® Pill?

The Wegovy® pill is a prescription medication designed to support medical weight management in eligible adults. Unlike many GLP-1 medications that require injections, Wegovy® tablets are taken once daily orally. The medication contains semaglutide, an FDA-approved ingredient that helps control appetite by making you feel full sooner and reducing hunger between meals.

Wegovy® pills are not a quick fix or a diet substitute. They are intended to be used alongside healthy eating habits, regular physical activity, and ongoing medical guidance.

How Wegovy® Helps with Weight Loss

Many people struggle with weight because of constant hunger cravings, even when they are eating well. Wegovy® is designed to work with the body’s natural systems that control appetite. After meals, the body releases a hormone called GLP-1 that signals fullness and helps regulate how much you eat.

As a result, Wegovy® may help patients:

  • Feel satisfied with smaller portions
  • Experience less hunger between meals
  • Reduce frequent cravings and mindless eating
  • Make healthier food choices more easily
  • Develop steadier eating habits throughout the day

When combined with a healthy diet and regular exercise, Wegovy® pills can support sustainable weight loss.

Who Is a Candidate for Wegovy® Pills in Seattle?

Adults who may qualify for Wegovy® tablets in Seattle include:

  • Individuals with a BMI of 27 or higher who have at least one weight-related condition

At Seattle Plastic Surgery, we offer a comprehensive consultation to determine eligibility. During your evaluation, we review:

How to Take Wegovy® Tablets

To ensure Wegovy® is absorbed properly and works as intended, it should be taken exactly as prescribed. FDA guidelines include the following instructions:

  • Take one tablet once daily on an empty stomach in the morning with up to 4 ounces of plain water
  • Do not take the tablet with anything other than water
  • Swallow tablets whole (do not crush, split, or chew them)
  • Wait at least 30 minutes after taking the tablet before eating, drinking, or taking other medications

If you miss a dose, skip it and take the next dose at your usual time the following day.

Wegovy® Pill Dosing Schedule in Seattle

Wegovy® pills are started at a low dose and slowly increased over time. This gradual approach may help reduce stomach side effects and give the body time to adjust. Some patients may move through doses faster or slower depending on how they feel. Common dosing schedules for adults include:

  • Days 1–30: 1.5 mg once daily
  • Days 31–60: 4 mg once daily
  • Days 61–90: 9 mg once daily
  • Day 91 and beyond: 25 mg once daily (maintenance)

Only one tablet should be taken per day. If side effects occur, we may suggest staying at a lower dose longer before advancing.

How Much Weight Can Patients Lose on the Wegovy® Pill?

In clinical research, adults who took Wegovy® tablets daily and followed the plan lost an average of about 16–17% of their body weight. Results may vary based on the following:

  • Dose tolerance: Being able to adjust to higher doses helps patients stay on treatment.
  • Consistency: Taking the medication every day as directed is important.
  • Food choices: Eating balanced meals helps control hunger.
  • Protein intake: Protein helps you feel full and maintain muscle.
  • Activity level: Regular movement supports weight loss and maintenance.
  • Sleep: Quality sleep helps manage hunger and energy.
  • Stress: High stress can make healthy eating harder.
  • Maintenance: Continuing healthy habits and follow-up care helps keep weight off.

Common Side Effects

GLP-1 medications, including Wegovy®, can affect the digestive system, especially when starting or increasing doses. Some patients may experience:

  • Nausea
  • Diarrhea
  • Vomiting
  • Constipation
  • Stomach discomfort
  • Headache
  • Fatigue

These effects often wear off as the body adjusts. To help reduce discomfort, patients may be advised to:

  • Stay well hydrated
  • Eat smaller, more frequent meals
  • Choose foods that are easy to digest
  • Gradually increase fiber intake
  • Avoid heavy or greasy meals

We can adjust dosing and suggest strategies to support tolerance.

Safety Considerations

Wegovy® is a prescription medication and should be used only under medical supervision. Before prescribing, we review your complete health profile to ensure it is a safe and appropriate option. Here are some important considerations:

  • Thyroid history: Wegovy® is not recommended for individuals with a personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia type 2 (MEN 2).
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: Wegovy® should not be used during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
  • Pancreatitis: Severe or persistent abdominal pain should be evaluated promptly.
  • Gallbladder issues: Rapid weight changes can increase gallstone risk.
  • Medication interactions: Wegovy® can slow gastric emptying and affect the absorption of other oral medications.

We will walk you through these considerations and provide ongoing support.
