With Dr. Santos’ revolutionary facelift techniques, recovery after a facelift in Seattle requires limited downtime and need for pain medication.
For the first few days, you may notice some side effects like swelling, bruising, and discomfort. Dr. Santos will recommend ways to ease these side effects like elevating the head of the bed to a 30-degree angle for two weeks following surgery, using ice packs for the first two days, and wearing your provided head wrap as directed. Your side effects will improve with time. After about a week, you can use makeup to cover up any residual bruising or swelling.
Most facelift patients can return to work and the majority of their activities within a week of surgery. Dr. Santos will clear each patient on a case-by-case basis based upon their post-operative appointments. Usually, Dr. Santos will restrict exercise and more strenuous activities for two weeks to ensure a safe recovery.
After two weeks, Dr. Santos usually clears patients to go back to all of their normal lives. He may still use caution when it comes to some movements or exercises, but he will ensure you know and understand all of your individualized instructions.
