Experience in plastic surgery and the operating room is not required for this job, we are dedicated to education and we will teach you the skills you need to succeed at this position.

Primary Job Functions:

  1. Supervises, directs, and provides patient care in an individual operating room.
  2. Ensures proper techniques and practices are used according to accepted standards of practice.
    1. Supervises other personnel in the Operating Room (OR) and directs or assists as necessary.
    2. Immediately reports any unusual occurrences to the Surgeon or Anesthesia provider, documents appropriately in the patient record, and completes incident reports if indicated.
  3. Performs scrub duties as necessary
    1. Maintains counts on sponges, sharps, and instruments as necessary
    2. Performs all circulating duties with efficiency and speed.
    3. Prepares OR for each patient
    4. Has all supplies and equipment in OR and provides to team as necessary
    5. Opens all sterile packs and supplies according to aseptic technique
    6. Reviews surgeon’s preference cards for desired medications and verifies same with surgeon
    7. Performs patient identification verification according to established policies and procedures
    8. Positions patient and adjusts table to proper position
    9. Ensures patient safety and comfort with safety devices and appropriate positioning aides
    10. Performs or supervises surgical preps
    11. Assists surgeons, anesthetists, and other personnel as needed to ensure good patient care
    12. Ensures all medications are administered and charted according to established policies and procedures
    13. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate
    14. Evaluates patient responses to treatments and interventions
    15. Follows Anesthesia Order Record and Physician Order Record
    16. Follows Verbal Order policies and procedures
    17. Takes vital signs according to established policies and procedures
    18. Provides age and culturally appropriate care
    19. Reacts rapidly to signs of negative physical changes, calling for assistance when necessary
    20. Communicates patient information verbally to anesthesia personnel, surgeons, and Surgery Center team members
    21. Promptly reports adverse events and medication errors
    22. Cares for specimens and maintains Pathology Log
    23. Cares for implants and maintains Implant Log
    24. Maintains records of procedures and reports any unusual occurrences
    25. Provides orderly progression of schedule and notifies Surgeon of any delays
    26. Assists with transfer of patients from OR table to RR stretcher
    27. Accompanies patient to RR and reports on patient condition and any special happenings to ensure continuity of care
    28. Follows Standard Precautions, using personal protective equipment as required
  4. Provides for continuity of individual patient care
    1. As time allows, reviews patient record to facilitate knowledge of patient, condition, and needs
    2. Performs Patient Verification Audit prior to surgery
    3. Institutes Time Out procedure in OR prior to every surgery
    4. Assists in control and maintenance of supplies and equipment
    5. Assists or directs stocking supplies in OR at conclusion of surgery day
    6. Records needed supplies in Supply Book for re-ordering
    7. Manages implant stock
    8. Breaks down, or assists in break down, of sterile field at conclusion of surgery
    9. Removes and disposes of contaminated and used items in appropriate receptacles
    10. Disposes of sharps in appropriate container according to established policies and procedures
    11. Performs cleaning, or assists in cleaning, of the OR according to established policies and procedures
    12. Ensures contaminated instruments are moistened prior to sending to Decontamination Room
    13. Assists in control of traffic and personnel to ensure proper control of infection and asepsis
  5. Assumes accountability and responsibility for own work performance and those under immediate supervision
    1. Observes assigned work schedule and hours
    2. Performs competently in new situations
    3. Maintains good rapport with fellow team members, physicians, and anesthesia personnel
    4. Performs duties in a professional and pleasant manner
  6. Follows Surgery Center dress code regarding clothing, jewelry, artificial nails, and hair coverage

  3. Assists in evaluation of all OR activities, nursing care given, and of personnel and techniques
  4. Performs duties in Recovery Room (RR) and Admission as scheduled
  5. Assists in narcotic inventory and record keeping as requested
  6. Reviews and updates surgeon’s preference cards as needed
  7. May be required to perform other related duties for which qualified

    2. Working in rooms with wide temperature variations

  3. Knowledge that breaks and lunch periods are variable in timing
  4. Ability to perform work that may require frequent standing, bending, reaching, squatting, kneeling, moving, and lifting of patients and/or equipment up to 50lbs.
    1. Requires using an assistive device or physical assistance for any lifting over 35lbs.

Position Summary:

The Clinical Registered Nurse specializes in the coordination of care of patients that are being seen in the clinic. The Clinical Registered Nurse is a key member assisting the surgeons and team with rooming patients, taking before/after pictures, initial consultations, clinical treatments, pre and post-op care, and social media. They ensure the proper documentation of all patient consultations, post-operative visit notes and injections. The Clinical Registered Nurse is also responsible for maintaining a manageable patient schedule and answering phones.

Primary Job Functions:

  1. Performs all clerical duties with efficiency and speed, Responsible for ensuring patients are escorted from the lobby to exam rooms
  2.  Ensures all leads are followed up with a phone call and/or email in a timely manner
  3. Answers phones, schedules appointments and consultations
  4. Collects patient information and communicates verbally with surgeon and staff members as appropriate
  5. Ensures all patient intake documentation is complete including history & physical,
  6. primary care provider, allergies
  7. Delivers pre-operative instructions phone call reminder to patients prior to surgery
  8. Performs one day reminder calls for all scheduled appointments, excluding day of surgery patients, with follow-up communication if not verbally contacted
  9. Creates new charts for surgery and injection patients, consultation folders
  10. Manages dictations of all patients then promptly completed and filed in charts
  11. Provides chart audit ensuring surgery and appointment dates are correctly documented
  12. Monitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate

2. Assists surgeon and nurses in patient care

  1. Provides cleaning and dressing of wounds
  2. Ensures e-prescription of surgery patients pre-op medications to their preferred pharmacy
  3. Provides assistance with in-clinic treatments and procedures
  4. Assists with capturing post-op photos for documenting recovery of surgery patients
  5. Assists surgeons, and other personnel as needed to ensure good patient care
  6. Initiates medical clearance and lab testing for surgery patient prior to pre-operative appointment
  7. Promptly and accurately uploads preoperative and postoperative photos to Mirror
  8. Reviews patient record to facilitate knowledge of patient, condition, and needs
  9. Removes drains, sutures, staples as directed by the surgeon
  10. Provides assistance with any local clinic procedures directed by the surgeon

3. Maintains inventory and PAR of all Clinic supplies

  1. Stocks exam room supplies at the conclusion of each clinic day
  2. Maintains accurate system for re-ordering supplies
  3. Responsible for notifying management when clinical supplies are low.
  4. Maintains cleanliness of Exam, Consult and Treatment rooms
  5. Removes and disposes of contaminated and used items in appropriate receptacles
  6. Disposes of sharps in appropriate container
  7. Performs cleaning, or assists in cleaning, of the Clinic and OR as scheduled
  8. Assumes accountability and responsibility for own work performance
  9. Observes assigned work schedule and hours

Position Summary:

The Pre-Op Coordinator/Registered Nurse specializes in the coordination of care of patients that are  being prepared for surgery. They ensure the proper documentation and clearances are obtained of  patients who are coming into the surgical center for planned surgery (not emergency). They do this by  asking detailed questions about the patients’ health via documents provided in the Pre-Op Packet, following the policies and procedures of the Surgical Center, under the delegation of a  licensed healthcare provider. The Pre-Op Coordinator also discusses social history to plan for discharge,  such as ensuring the patients have someone to drive and look after them after surgery.

Primary Job Functions: 

  1. Prepares Pre-Op Packets and charts for all upcoming surgery patients
  2. Coordinates with patient to obtain required clearances and labwork prior to scheduled pre-op  appointment
  3. Obtain information from the patient to fill in required Pre-Op Checklist in its entirety
  4. Ensures patients and families are comfortable with upcoming surgical procedure
  5. Obtain signature from prescribing physician of all prescription orders
  6. Prepare and maintain all preoperative appointment documents, supplies and documentation then forwards information to appropriate medical staff for review and ordering of supplies i.e.  Anesthesia, Director of Operating Services
  7. Manages and maintains medical clearance, lab work, medication history, drug use and allergies  prior to surgery
  8. Ensures paperwork such as surgery type, consents, allergies, medication history are all correctly  documented
  9. Reports any questionable health history or patient condition to appropriate medical staff (MD,  anesthesia, DOS, COO) immediately
  10. Assists all team members as requested
  11. Take direction and initiate actions that allow cross-functional duties to ensure seamless patient  care
  12. Demonstrates positive interpersonal relationships in dealing with fellow clinic employees,  managers and providers
